For the next two years, the Carbon Trust is offering an accessible support package to help small and medium sized companies in England, Wales and Scotland identify energy saving opportunities and install energy efficient equipment in their business.
So what is on offer?
•Up to £10,000 capital contribution to SMEs in England, Scotland and Wales for energy saving equipment
•Funded energy saving opportunity assessments to help businesses identify energy savings
•Up to five days of funded procurement support to help procure appropriate equipment suppliers
•Training workshops to help small groups of SMEs work out how best to identify the energy saving opportunities available to them
Funding from the Green Business Fund is limited and will be disbursed on a first come first served basis and there is an eligibility criteria that businesses will need to meet.
In order to qualify you must meet the Customer Criteria. Your business must be trading in England, Scotland or Wales (the funding is not available in Northern Ireland) and meet the definition of a small or medium enterprise (SME), specifically:
•have no more than 250 employees;
•your annual turnover does not exceed £25.9 million; or
•your annual balance sheet total assets do not exceed £12.9 million,
•and no more than 25% of shares or voting rights are owned by a third party that does not meet at least two of these criteria.
Your project must include installation of equipment or technology which delivers on-site fossil fuel use savings. This can be done by either replacing existing equipment with a more energy efficient alternative, or by investing in renewable technologies to displace a fossil fuel use, and which provides a project pay-back within five years from installation.
Your project should be delivered by an Accredited Supplier, this means a supplier who is listed on the Green Business Directory; the Carbon Trust’s directory of Accredited Suppliers, located on Carbon Trust's website.
Your Capital Contribution is paid on a reimbursement basis. You will be required to submit a copy of your invoice(s) and a certificate to the Carbon Trust from the Accredited Supplier, who should be named in the final invoice(s). The commissioning certificate must be signed by both you and the Accredited Supplier and confirm that the relevant equipment has been installed and is ready for use. You will be required to submit your commissioning certificate to the Carbon Trust together with a photograph of the installation, within 7 days of the equipment being commissioned.
